Presenter Lowdown - Sparky
Sparky’s love for music started early — spinning tracks for friends at just 12 years old and quickly falling in love with sharing great tunes with anyone who’d listen. Growing up on the sounds of the ’70s and ’80s, his passion for all genres of music has stayed with him ever since.
His radio journey began back in 1994 at Mix 106, broadcasting live from Tower Park in Poole. That was just the start of a lifelong connection with local radio and the South Coast music scene.
Fast forward to 2019, and Sparky joined Hot Radio, launching The Hot Rewind — a one-hour show that ran twice a day, Monday to Friday. His very first track on Hot? Mousse T vs Hot n Juicy – Horny — and the rest, as they say, is history.
He later made Hot Radio history again by launching Hot Gold with the very first live show, Hot Gold Breakfast with Sparky, before also taking on Hot Mornings across both stations. These days, you’ll hear him getting you home across the South Coast on Hot's Big Drive Home, bringing energy, great tunes, and his signature cheeky charm to your morning.
A true radio original, Sparky’s been keeping listeners entertained for decades — and shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon. 😎

First album you bought?
👉 Blondie – Parallel Lines. Still one of the coolest albums ever made — pure new wave gold.
Best gig you’ve ever been to?
👉 Erasure’s Circus Tour in 1987 at the Hammersmith Palais — lights, synths and singalongs galore. One of those gigs that sticks with you forever.
Favourite artist of all time?
👉 UB40 — I even got to be part of their tour back in the ’80s. Great music, great memories, and one of the friendliest groups you could meet.
Song you can’t resist singing along to?
👉 Mr. Blue Sky – Electric Light Orchestra. Go on, try not to sing along — it’s impossible!
Favourite place in BCP?
👉 Poole Quay — nothing beats the sunshine, sea air, and the best fish and chips you’ll find anywhere on the South Coast.

No better feeling than seeing a sea of people dancing to your mix. Decks, lights, and one big Bournemouth crowd — that’s Sparky’s happy place.
