Presenter Lowdown - Mark Rush Palmer

Mark’s love for radio started young — really young. He was already playing “radio stations” in his bedroom at just seven years old, long before he ever touched a real studio fader. By the age of 15, he’d taken his first big step into the industry with media training at 2CR, and he’s been hooked ever since.

Over the years, Mark has built a reputation for being a true friend on the other end of the radio — the kind of presenter who can make you smile, laugh, and feel part of the show no matter where you’re listening from.

He’s a self-confessed perfectionist when it comes to how his shows sound, obsessed with making them slick, tight, and professional… but never too serious. Because, as Mark says, “nobody wants that!”

It’s that balance of polish and playfulness that makes Mark one of the most relatable voices on the airwaves — proof that radio done right still starts with a bit of passion, personality, and a whole lot of fun.

First album you bought?

👉 De La Soul – 3 Feet High & Rising. A proper classic and still one of the smartest, funkiest albums ever made.

Best gig you’ve ever been to?

👉 The Prodigy at the BIC — loud, chaotic, and absolutely electric from start to finish.

Favourite artist of all time?

👉 Stevie Wonder — timeless talent and the blueprint for so many other artists that followed.

Song you can’t resist singing along to?

👉 Armand Van Helden – You Don’t Know Me. If that drops, there’s no way I’m not joining in!

Favourite place in BCP?

👉 The Terrace at Key West on Bournemouth Pier — home of the Sunset Club every summer and the best place in town to soak up the view with great tunes and good company.

A glimpse behind the faders — radio may have started as a childhood hobby, but it’s still where Mark feels right at home.
