Before joining Hot Radio, Jay Rachet had already carved out a seriously impressive career in radio. His journey began at FIRE Radio, where he spent an incredible 17 years on air — perfecting his craft, connecting with listeners, and becoming a familiar voice across Bournemouth.

Known for his dynamic presenting style and deep knowledge of music across all genres (with a real soft spot for RnB), Jay quickly became a standout personality on the South Coast.

That experience built the perfect foundation for his move to Hot Radio, where he continues to bring his trademark energy, musical expertise, and love for storytelling to the airwaves. Whether he’s sharing a throwback gem, uncovering a new favourite, or just having a laugh with listeners, Jay’s all about keeping it real and keeping it Hot.

 

First album you bought?

👉 Now That’s What I Call Music! 8 (1986) — on cassette, no less! The start of a lifelong love affair with great music.

Best gig you’ve ever been to?

👉 Love Supreme 2025 with Maxwell headlining. The atmosphere, the music, the energy — pure perfection.

Favourite artist of all time?

👉 Luther Vandross. A truly gifted soul and RnB legend whose voice defined a generation — and who wrote hits for some of the greatest artists of all time.

Song you can’t resist singing along to?

👉 Maxwell – Ascension. It’s Jo and my favourite song — though Pretty Wings comes in a very close second.

Favourite place in BCP?

👉 Southbourne — the new Bournemouth! A vibrant spot full of independent shops, bars, and quiet sandy beaches, with a fantastic and friendly community.
