Seaside Scramble

Seaside Scramble brings big laughs (and muddy knees) to Poole Harbourside

If you were down at Poole Harbourside for the Seaside Scramble, you’ll know exactly what we mean when we say: this one was pure fun from start to finish.

Sparky and the Hot Radio team were there getting stuck in and soaking up the atmosphere as hundreds of people took on Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance’s brand-new 5K obstacle fun run by the sea — and yes, there was plenty of scrambling, climbing, crawling… and laughing.

What is the Seaside Scramble?

Seaside Scramble is a 5K obstacle course created by Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance, set against the brilliant backdrop of Poole’s harbourside.

It’s designed to be inclusive and fun, whether you’re:

  • taking part as a family
  • doing it with friends
  • joining as a team from work
  • or just giving it a go yourself

The course is two laps of 2.5K, with air-ambulance-themed obstacles along the way — a mix of challenges that include inflatable sections, water-based obstacles, crawl-throughs and climb-overs. In other words: expect muddy knees, big smiles, and loads of photo moments.

Why it matters (and why it’s such a great cause)

As well as being a cracking day out, Seaside Scramble is all about supporting a service that’s there for people on what can be the worst day of their lives.

Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance is a charity and receives no direct government funding.
Each life-saving mission costs around £3,500, which is why events like this make such a difference.

The charity encourages Scramblers to aim for £50 in sponsorship, but every bit of support helps keep the critical care team in the skies.

What you got on the day

As well as the course itself, the event page lists some great extras included for participants:

  • Finisher’s medal
  • Free T-shirt
  • Event photography
  • On-site hydration station
  • Free spectator area (so friends and family can come along and cheer you on)

Where and when was it?

The 2026 event took place at Baiter Park, Poole (BH15 1TQ) on Saturday 9 May 2026, running from 9:30am to 3:00pm.
